Tips for your first vacation together

They say a couple's first vacation can make or break them! You will be with your loved one 24 hours a day, you will see the other person in their best and worst moments and you will not have a moment of your personal space. Can you handle it? Here's a practical guide to keep your romantic vacation from turning into a nightmare!

1. Organize a test trip

Before you take the plunge of vacationing for two whole weeks why not organize a test trip over a weekend first? It doesn't need anything terrible. A nearby destination, nice hotel and that way you get an idea of what awaits you.

2. Use your strengths to plan

Instead of arguing over who will do what, divide your responsibilities according to each person's strengths. For example, if you're better at organizing, you can make the reservations, and if your partner has an appeal in languages, let him make the arrangements.

3. Check in advance that the destination meets the needs of both

When choosing a holiday destination, it is important that it suits both of you. There is no problem with who will do the bookings, but before making your final decision do your research carefully and above all, be fair. For example, if one of you is a golf fanatic and the other loves sightseeing, then don't book a week's vacation at a golf resort. If the vacation is a surprise, consider the other person's interests as well.

4. Avoid a too tight schedule

If your schedule is too busy, then it can easily turn into a chore. One of you might be hungover and want to sleep in a little more, or the other day you might want to relax by walking around the city instead of going to a museum. It is better to adopt a relaxed schedule rather than a rigid schedule. Accept each other's differences and everything will be fine.

5. Compromise

There should be no leader in your vacation, no matter who planned it. You are both equal. Therefore, every decision must be joint. If you're a picky eater, try being adventurous. Likewise, if you hate sports but your partner loves it, agree to accompany them to a game.
